North Side
There are three small waterfalls that can be visited on the Transit
of Venus Walk on the north side of Woodford.
This waterfall was thought to be underwater at Lake Woodford.
However, bushwalker Gerald Kleyn had compared the position of the
falls shown on an old map (1885) with one he had seen. The waterfall
is very close to a fire road above the west arm of Woodford Dam. It
also fits with the name "Gemini". Gemini is a double star system,
and this waterfall is double waterfall with its two streams. It is
likely that this waterfall was named by the astronomers who
completed a Transit of Venus observation at Woodford in 1874.
South Side
Murphys Glen Outlet Creek
Two waterfalls can be reached from a track that follows along the
outlet stream from Murphys Glen. The track goes to a large pool in
Bedford Creek.
Garnett Creek
These are in Garnett Creek about 650 m north of the junction with
Bedford Ck.
These are in Garnett Creek about 250 m north of the junction with
Bedford Ck, and 400 m downstream from Parrot Falls
Wilsons Glen Creek
While looking at some old parish maps a few years ago, I noticed two
more waterfalls south of Woodford. I asked Brian Fox, the author of
the Blue Mountains Geographic Encyclopaedia if he knew of them. He
did not, but he suggested some names based on nearby early
landholders.
