Europe 2006 - Thoughts and Observations on Cycling
Luzern (Lucerne) - Switzerland
In this beautiful city - there were lots of bikes - as a few of these
photos show. It was interesting to note that each bike had a sticker on
it - with the year. I am not sure if this is required for bike
registration or just for bikes in the city (for parking?)

Lyon - France
In Lyon - there were also lots of bikes ridden by a wide range of
people - young, old, in suits etc. There was also a scheme in operation
where people could use bikes - by putting some sort of card in a
machine - and then selecting one of the bikes and riding off on it. I
saw a lot of people riding around on these distinctive bikes - and
there were stands like this in many places in the city.

For another set of pictures of urban cycling in Europe - take a look at this site on Amsterdam.
