We had met up with friends from SUBW - Dave L, Nicole, Juri and Cat at
Wanaka and together we hired a shuttle bus to take us up Matukituki
Valley. We farewelled our friends as they set of up the east branch of
the river while Rachael and myself set of up the west branch towards
Aspiring Hut.

We walked up to the hut and after a short break headed up the track
towards Cascade Saddle. We camped at a small campsite near the
bushline. Not far above the campsite we had fine views of Mt Aspiring
(Tititea) and the shole of the Matukutuki Valley.
