The Cameron Mountains lie in the remote south west corner of Fiordland,
New Zealand. The area is very rugged and subject to bad weather. Our
plan was to walk around the south coast and then climb onto the range,
traverse it and exit via the Heath Mountains and the Dusky Sound Track
to Lake Manapouri. We carried food and equipment for 18 days. The walk
ended up taking 17 days. This was an excellent walk - one of the best I
have done.
Steve Henzell's report of the trip can be found here
in "Press On Regardless"
I had earlier been on a traverse of the nearby Princess Mountains.

this one. The track here followed an old tramway.

On our third day out, we left the track and followed up the Aan River
to camp at Lake Innes

for the weather to improve before venturing onto the tops.
We then climbed up onto the range via Mt Aitken
