Above - An Earth Star (Geastrum triplex) - with the outer layer just splitting to reveal the inner ball



Above - Coprinellus micaceus or Coprinellus truncorum (Glistening Ink Cap). Notice the white flecks of scales on the cap, and the darkening of the lower cap as it auto digests. Cicada shell on the lower right.
