Waterfalls of Sydney - Northern
Refuge Bay Falls
Refuge Bay is on West Head, in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park.
The waterfall at the bay can be visited by boat or on foot. To
walk to the falls you start on Salvation Loop Trail and then turn
off on the Wallaroo Trail, then follow a rough track to cascades
at the top of the falls.
Upper Cascades
At the upper cascades you can see some Aboriginal sharpening grooves
and faint rock engravings.
Lower Cascades
Refuge Bay Falls
There is a steep track on the true right of the falls to get to the
base.
The area has considerable military history. It had been used as a
secret training base for a special operation in World War II. There
is a plaque to explain this history.
