Party - Bob, Dave
Above - At the Paul Harris Memorial Lookout - views of Mt Cloudmaker
and Kanangra Walls
Above - we started out on the "Grand Clifftop Trail" - which was
another name for the road that goes along the south side of the
railway line between Blackheath and Medlow Bath
Above - A short way along, we turned off down the walking track that
goes to the Mermaids Cave. This track is not signposted but it is
shown well on Open
Street Maps.
Above - As well as walkers this tarck seems to be also used by
mountain bikers.
Above - The track took us down to the bend in the Megalong Road.
Coming in on the left is a second track that goes back up to the
escarpment.
Above - Now on the tourist track to the cave
Above - Mermaids Cave Falls
Above - We had followed down the track that goes down the cleft
behind Bob.
We climbed up the cliffs at the far end of the cave - this was an
easy scramble and then went back to the top - all off track.
Above - Orphan Rock from Reids Plateau at Katoomba
Above - The Three Sisters from Juliets Balcony
Above - Bob climbing up the old track up Orphan Rock
Above - Orphan Rock
Above - View from the top of Orphan Rock
Above - Bob on the way back down - there are two sets of rickety
stairs. Care is needed!
