Above - Wolgan River
Above - A Cicada Killer Wasp (Exeirus lateritius) - this wasp
was huge - about 5 cm long. They sting cicadas and then bring them
back to their hole, drag them underground and then lay an egg in the
cicada.
Above - one of many beautiful Angophora floribunda trees
growing on the river flats
Above - rock tower on the south side of the river
Above - another rock tower (or two) - we camped near the river under
here. This was the current end of the road.

Above - Our camp. A very nice setting - but there were lots of black
bull ants and red and black jack jumper ants around, and it was very
very noisy from the drumming of cicadas.

Above - the rock towers next morning. It had been raining overnight.
Above - Isotoma axillaris (Thanks Chris Jonkers for the id)
Above - Kurrajong
Above - old cable on a river terrace downstream of Annie Rowan
Creek. Perhaps associated with Tony Luchetti's farm (he also owned a
property at Annie Rowan Ck) - or perhaps it was used by Lithgow 4WD
enthusiasts in the 1970's - they used to drive their vehicles to
Annie Rowan Ck and then tried to extend their road down the river to
get to the Colo. They failed to make it to Capertee junction, so
they then tried from Mt Cameron.

Above - The Totem Pole. I was on a walk in 1974 with Joe Mack. We
camped not far from here, and he noticed this unusual earth pillar
during the morning on his toilet walk. It had been recorded by
Joseph Carne early in the century.
