Depth of Field
This is determined by the f stop used. Here are some examples. The
subject is a ruler placed along the surface of a rock -
f 2.8
f 4
f 5.6
f 8
f 11
f 16
f 22
f 32
Considerations -
- Modern lenses are generally sharpest around f 5.6 to f 8
- From about f 11 diffraction leads to softening of the image.

- For most fungi photographs - a large depth of field is needed
for the subject(s) to be sharp - eg f 16 or f 22 should be used.
- High f stops require either a long exposure and/or a high ISO
