I visited Tasmania for a few weeks. I flew into Launceston and was
able to make a couple of visits to the "Into the
Wild" Wilderness Photography Exhibition at the Queen Victoria
Museum. I also used the early evening for a quick visit to Cataract
Gorge - which is within easy walking distance from the CBD.

The next day, in the early afternoon, I caught the bus to Deloraine
then a taxi ($70 fare) to the start of Higgs Track. I have used this
access route many times before. From where the taxi drops you off it
is only about an hours walk onto the open tops of the Central
Plateau. Thirteen days later I finished the walk at Cynthia Bay at
Lake St Clair. You can see my route from the photo pages -
