There are 20 - 30 canyons close to Newnes township and the Devils Pinch
would be regarded by many as one of the best of these. It starts with a
narrow upper constriction that has a couple of abseils into a narrow
dark slot. Then a walk through rainforest brings one to the lower
section of canyon. Some nice narrow sections and beautiful pools
are found here. Then the creek drops with one more abseil in an amazing
corridoor of canyon. It is this lower part that makes the Devils Pinch
a classic canyon.
Many parties visit this canyon in the afternoon after doing Pipeline in
the morning - and that makes for a great day of canyoning. Some of us had visited Pipeline Canyon the afternoon before.

Above - At the bottom of the second abseil was a small snake. It was
almost too dark too see it. Sven realised it was there when it crawled
over his shoe!

Once in the lower corridoor - it was time to put away the video camera and take a few stills.
