Nurragingy Reserve – 25 September 2026

This was another pleasant day spent at Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside with Sue. We were particularly looking for Azure Kingfishers and Pacific Bazas, but had no luck. We heard a Sacred Kingfisher, but could not spot it, and we also heard plenty of alarm calls – so there were probably some raptors around, but the most we got was a fleeting view. But, Nurragingy is always a great place to visit.

Here are some of the birds we saw –

Eastern Rosella

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Rainbow Lorikeet

White Browed Scrubwren

Red Wattlebird

Bell Miner

Galah

A family of Maned Ducks –

Long Billed Corella

Superb Fairy Wren

Galah

A nesting Tawny Frogmouth –

Olive Backed Oriole

Laughing Kookaburra

White Faced Heron

It was bath time for these Noisy Miners –

White Faced Heron

I think the Heron had just caught some rubbish.
