Malabar Headland National Park – the eastern section, was open again at last, but only for a day. So I joined Sue for a day on the cliffs. We later met up with Alana. We had quite a good day in terms of interactions with wild animals. We saw some good Humpback Whale action and also the usual raptors.

Near the park entrance, we heard then spotted a Rufous Whistler.

Near Magic Point, we saw a Nankeen Kestrel perched on the cliffs.

It had a shake down –

We waited a fair while to see if it would take off and fly about, but it seemed content to stay where it was, so we kept on walking. out towards Boora Point.

We saw the Beard Orchids –

Flannel Flowers

We scanned the cliffs but could not late any Peregrine Falcons, so we sat down and waited. While waiting we spotted a pod of Humpback Whales causing past. One was breaching.

One of the whales continued breaching for quite a while.

New Holland Honeyeater

We had a brief glimpse of a Peregrine Falcon. It landed out of sight on the cliffs.

Sarath, another bird photographer on the cliffs.

More passing Humpback Whales –

Then a Peregrine Falcon flew past with some prey.

The prey may have been given to another Peregrine Falcon out of sight. Anyway, one appeared with the prey.

And then it flew back and landed out of sight.

One did land not far away.

Some more flying –

Caspian Tern

Superb Fairy Wren

Alana and Sue on the cliffs –

More Peregrine Falcon action –

More Humpback Whales

A distant Albatross –

And as we were walking out, we saw a Nankeen Kestrel again –
