Fungi at Ferndale Park and Blue Gum Reserve – 13 June 2022

I was keen to see what the fungi was like at these two reserves at Chatswood. I was a bit disappointed – due to recent winds and dry conditions the fungi was quite poor. What I did find in reasonable condition was very small, and all the large fungi was desiccated.

Gliophorus chromolimoneus

I started off at Ferndale Park. Here is some of what I found –

Hygrocybe sp.

Hygrocybe erythrocrenata

Probably Hygrocybe sp.

Humidicutis sp.

Gliophorus chromolimoneus

Gliophorus viridis

Hygrocybe lilaceolamellata

Gliophorus graminicolor

Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea

Clavulinopsis fusiformis

Clavulinopsis sp.

And growing at the base – Aleurina ferruginea –

Hygrocybe austropratensis

Now to Blue Gum Reserve –

Gliophorus graminicolor

Gliophorus sp.

Hygrocybe reesiae

Hygrocybe anomala var. anomala

Hygrocybe anomala var. ianthinomarginata

Hygrocybe anomala var. anomala

Hygrocybe austropratensis

Hygrocybe reesiae

I the walked down to the Lane Cove River and had lunch in the National Park. I then walked downstream. Here are some of the birds I saw –

Brown Thornbill

Grey Butcherbird

At a sporting I looked at the Osprey nest to see if the Osprey were around. No sign of them. I waited around for a while, but still no sign of the birds – so perhaps this nest is not being used this season?
