Back to Barton Park – 29 July 2022

A late start this day. I arrived at Barton Park not long before noon. The day before I had been hoping for a Swamp Harrier, but had made do with a juvenile Black Shouldered Kite. This day, despite the late start I was able to photograph a few different raptors.

Here are some photos (in order) –

White-faced Heron

Striated Heron

This was a juvenile, hunting in the Spring St Canal.

Grey Goshawk

I met up with Gavin,  another bird photographer, that I had met a few times earlier at other venues. We walked around a fair bit chasing this Goshawk.

Brown Goshawk

Osprey

In the far distance I could see an Osprey flying very high.

White-necked Heron

Grey Goshawk

It showed up again.

And so did the Brown Goshawk.

Red-browed Finch

White-bellied Sea Eagle

Gavin and myself spotted this a long way off a few times. On one occasion, it did fly a bit closer.

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

The Sea Eagle again –

And another White-faced Heron

It was good to catch up with Gavin again.
