Another day looking for Peregrine Falcons and whales. This time I was joined by Valerie and Sue.
We saw plenty of whale activity, but only a brief glimpse of a single Peregrine Falcon. But the weather was great, and Malabar Headland is a very pleasant place to visit.
Walking out, we spotted a large number of Welcome Swallows –
And here are three Red Wattlebirds –
It didn’t take to look for the first Humpback Whale to cruise past.
But there were also long distance swimmers –
White-faced Heron
Out near Boora Point, a Peregrine Falcon appeared, flew towards us, then tuned around and flew off. That is all we saw of the Peregrine Falcons.
Pied Cormorant
Australasian Gannet
More Humpback Whale action –
This whale was very close below the cliffs and heading south –
And on the walk out, at Deadmans Gulch, I stopped to photograph this New Holland Honeyeater hunting insects. Some amazing flying –
And to finish, a Crested Tern –
Thanks to Valerie and Sue for great company during the day, and to Valerie for a lift out and back.
I was stunned and captivated by the sequential photos you took of the whale and the New Holland Honeyeater. Fascinating they are. I felt as if I was there as I glanced through your photos. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful experience. Joan
Great photos Dave can’t wait to get back to the Headland in a couple of weeks & catch up
with everyone. Very hot in Italy went to Tivoli Gardens on Friday.
