After completing our first walk
- we looked at weather forecasts (they were not good) and decided that
a valley trip with no high passes would be good option. So we decided
on the Caples - Greenstone Circuit. I had been down the upper part of
the Caples Valley on an earlier walk with Bob Sault and knew it was
very beautiful, and Rachael Murphy, whom I had walked with in New
Zealand on the last visit also reported the whole circuit as an
excellent walk.
On the 6 days of the walk - it did rain every day for some of the time.
But we also enjoyed some fine spells and we had an excellent trip. The
wet weather did provide softer lighting - good for photographing in the
beech forests even if it did make photography difficult at times.
