Greenway Bird Survey – 23 November 2024

It was time for the survey along the Dulwich Hill section of The Greenway. I joined the group outside Waratah Mills Light Rail Station at 7:30 am.

Here are some of the birds we observed –

New Holland Honeyeater

This Pacific Koel juvenile is calling for food.

One of its foster parents, a Red Wattlebird brings over some food.

I think the Koel wants more….

Brush Turkey

Welcome Swallow

We saw a Brush Turkey chick in the concrete lined creekbed –

Red Wattlebird

New Holland Honeyeater

Australian Raven

And here is another Pacific Koel juvenile being fed by a Red Wattlebird

On the previous survey here, which I had not been on, some Tawny Frogmouths had been seen. We soon found one perched hidden in the foliage above –

And then a second was nearby on a nest –

And a third was perched nearby –

As usual, we finished with coffee and chat in an early cafe.
