After a great experience observing the Peregrine Falcons the previous day, I decided to head back out there to hopefully photograph more action. The highlight of the previous day had been witnessing a mid-air food exchange. Would there be another on this visit? There was!

I was be myself, so I decided to walk out via the Western Track. The would allow me to look for orchids.

In the same spot I had seen some last year, I found some Flying Duck Orchids. Caleana major.

And further on were some Sun Orchids.

I spotted a Peregrine Falcon fly past –

And then it was quiet for a long time. Another bird photographer Janson arrived.
A Nankeen Kestrel flew past –

It was repeatedly calling out –

Then the main event took place. A very fast Peregrine Falcon mid-air food exchange. With no warning at all. I was lucky to get some photos.

And that was that. It was a hot day, and I did not want to stay too long, so I made my way back to Maroubra Beach. On the way, I encountered a Nankeen Kestrel again –

And now two Kestrels –

The last bird was a Black Faced Cuckoo Shrike –
