I thought I would give Long Reef another try. My last trip had been fairly quiet, but was that a one off?

This trip turned out to a bit quiet too, but not as bad as the last visit.
It got off to a good start. A Humpback Whale was breaching in the far distance.

And Nankeen Kestrel was hunting.

I could not spot any Ospreys. While waiting for them to hopefully turn up, I turned my lens to a group of White Faced Herons that were hunting on the rock platform.

Then an Osprey did fly over.

But it just had a look, then fly back and perch on nearby roots.

Then it flew out again.

Again, it circled around and landed back on the roots.

Meanwhile, some other visits to the rock platform had seen some strange creatures.

There were two. They were Sea Hares, a type of mollusc. Interesting.

Then another Opsrey arrived, but it flew far out to sea.

And a while later, it returned with small fish.

I was getting bit bored, so climbed up to the lookout. The Osprey on the roots was still there.

Then it suddenly took off and dived for a fish not far from where it was perched. It missed the fish and circled back around to its perch.

But just as I was about to leave, it took off again, and this time it got small fish. But i did not see it take off and was not able to get photo of the catch.
