Birds at the Central Coast Wetland – 28 February 2021

I spent another nice day looking for birds at the wetlands at Wyong.

on the walk to the wetlands, I saw a Masked Lapwing

and a White-breasted Woodswallow

Two White-faced Herons flew past –

When I arrived, there was another birder there. We spent some time looking at a distant bird. It was a Wood Sandpiper

He also pointed out, that nearby was a Buff-banded Rail

Here are some more birds from the wetland –

Little Pied Cormorants

This one has caught something – a snake or perhaps an eel?

Australasian Darters

Australian Pelicans

Cattle Egrets

Here are some birds in the forest –

Superb Fairy-wren

Eastern Whipbird

Tawny Grassbird

Willie Wagtail

Olive-backed Oriole

Later, as I was leaving, I saw this bird fly out of the grass near one of the ponds. I think it is a Latham’s Snipe

And a Swamp Harrier was hunting a long way off –

And later, looking at my photos, I found there was a Straw-necked Ibis amongst the Cattle Egrets –
