Taronga Zoo – 20 December 2021

I had been a while since I had been able to visit Taronga Zoo. This was my first visit since the lockdown and there was a lot to see including some new baby animals.

One highlight was seeing the five new Lion cubs. They were all visible, bit not active while I was at the Zoo (and I did visit their enclosure a number of times).

Near the Lions are the Meerkats –

And the sleepy Fenec Foxes.

I then went down to the Langurs –

I continued down to see the new baby Pygmy Hippopotamus.

It was great to see this baby, but I have since heard that it died shortly after my visit. Its death seems to be due to a medical issue.

Then to the Sumatran Tigers –

The only new animal I could find were some camels.

Then it was time to go to the bird show. Here is the Whistling Kite –

And the Buzzard –

And the Barking Owl –

The Condor flew down.

And some Cockatoos –

I then photographed one of the Giraffes with some Sydney icons in the background.

Then a visit to the reptiles –

And I finished by visiting some of the aviaries.
