The Alpine Pass Route is a walk across Switzerland from Sargans
near
the muncipality of Lichtenstein to Montreux on the shore of Lac Leman.
Most of the walk is through the Bernese Oberland. Two years earlier I
had completed a similar walk - the Walkers Haute Route from Chamonix in
France to Zermat. That walk had been great so I was keen to again
expereince the beauty and hospitality of the mountain areas of
Switzerland.
The walk was about 326 km in total (I used bus and cable cars for some
parts) and involved climbing up and down a lot of passes to almost 3000
m. The total climbing is probably about 25,000 m. It took me 15 days to
complete.
