This was an activity of the National Parks Association of NSW led by Brian Everingham. The main aim was to look for birds.
Our first stop was the mudflats at Maianbar.
White-faced Heron
Eastern Curlew
Bar-tailed Godwit
We also met local guardian of the mudflats, Julia Keating. A champion of the birds. She told us about a family of Pied Oystercatchers. They had two chicks, that were yet flying. Recently she had come across the father of the chicks. It had been killed – possibly by a dog attack. Julie was helping the bird’s mother in feeding the young.

We then headed to Bonnie Vale at Bundeena.

We came across a Bower –
