Back to Nurragingy Reserve – 24 February 2025

The previous recent visit to Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside had been outstanding opportunities to photograph the resident birdlife, so I was keen on another visit. Sue was also keen to come along.

This visit proved to be a lot quieter than the previous one. We did not see any Pacific Bazas (at least not confirmed – we did get fleeting views of some raptors), nor did we get quality observing time with the Azure Kingfishers, but we still, overall, had a good visit.

Here are some of the birds we saw –

Laughing Kookaburra

Little Corella

Galah

Dollarbird

Yellow-faced Honeyeater

A Thornbill

Red Wattlebird

Perhaps a Little Wattlebird

Bell Miner

Azure Kingfisher

White-faced Heron

Sacred Kingfishers

Brush Turkey

Australian White Ibis – one is preening the other.

Tawny Frogmouths

Water Dragon

A bit later we visited the Tawny Frogmouths again and found they had moved apart a bit.

Azure Kingfisher

And another Tawny Frogmouth  photo – they are back together!

Thanks again to Sue for great company and helping with the spotting.
