Fungi and Orchids at Birdwood Gully – 30 April 2025

I travelled up to Springwood with Sue and we headed down to Birdwood Gully to see what fungi we could find. After recent rain, I was quite hopeful that a lot would be out, but we were a bit disappointed. We found some nice fungi, but not as much as were were hoping for, even though the track was quite wet in places, and the leeches were out. But, we also found quite a few orchids in flower.

Clavulinopsis sulcata

This Clavulinopsis fusiformis is starting to look a bit old –

Waxcaps were rather scarce.  Here is a Porpolomopsis lewelliniae

Hygrocybe sp.

Cyptotrama asprata

Hygrocybe sp.

Mycena sp.

Tiny cups on a stick

Gliophorus sp.

Unknown –

Geastrum triplex

Ramaria sp.

Phaeoclavulina ochracea

Cortinarius rotundisporus

Plectania campylospora

Tremella sp.

Perhaps Inocybe sp.

And some of the orchids –

Sharp Greenhood Orchid – Pterostylis acuminata

Pixies Cap Orchid – Acianthus fornicatus
