Peregrine Falcon Update – 17 October 2026

I thought another return to the sea cliffs of Sydney would be worthwhile. I was after more Peregrine Falcon photos. The young birds grow up fast and will be soon flying far from the nest area, and so much harder to photograph.

When I arrived at the nest area, there were two chicks on the cliffs with their mother on guard duty.

The two chicks were eating.

Their mother did a few short flights.

The chicks remained on the ledges.

They often called out – perhaps after more food?

I think their mother was flying around to try and encourage the chicks to do some flying.

A White Belled Sea Eagle flew past.

The guard did not attach the Sea Eagle.

One of the chicks took off on the ledge and flew straight at its mother.

Finally, the chicks took to the air.

But the soon landed.

One did a little more flying.

Time for some sleep?

But, the chick suddenly woke up and seemed quite excited.

It’s father arrived with some food.

The mother flew in and landed nearby.

The father did some nice flying.

The chick continued to eat.

The father landed near the ledge.

And the mother remained on her perch.

The second chick looked on.

It landed neat the first chick.

It watched its sibling eat.

And then the food was shared.

It had been a very worthwhile visit.
