Peregrine Falcon Update – 21 October 2026

Another visit to this wonderful family of Peregrine Falcons. It is very special to witness the progress of  the young birds.

WhenI arrived on there cliffs, on of the juvenile Peregrine Falcons was perched on a ledge.

Its mother was perched nearby, on guard duty.

Then a second chick arrived.

The toe chicks then staged a mock fight.

These mock fights are one way the young birds develop the skills they will need to hunt and survive.

Next, some fast fly flying.

More mock fights.

The young birds are learning what is a good perch and what is a bad one.  THispalm frond is a very and place to perch.

The young bird tries to stay on the frond.

But then the second chick flies in, at speed.

Yes – a better perch.

The chick’s mother does some flying.

I think their mother was trying to encourage the chicks to do some more flying.

Back on this bad perch –

This time the bird fell off.

And back again –

Another interesting day.
