Birds at Barton Park – 6 September 2019

This was a nice afternoon visit to Barton Park and the Landing Lights Wetland. It had been a sunny morning, but the afternoon was overcast and the light was quite poor for photography.

In the Landing Lights Wetland there were the usual Pied Stilts and various ducks. There was also a White-faced Heron and a Little Egret. The Egret was quite busy hunting for small fish.

Here are some photos from the wetlands –

Little Egret

Later, a single Australian Spoonbill flew in.

And  a Masked Lapwing –

I then headed up to the higher ground around the sporting fields above the wetlands. Some of the birds from this area –

Superb Fairywrens

Here is a take off sequence composite –

I also spotted the local resident Brown Goshawk.

I then headed back down to the Wetland. The Egret was being harassed by a Masked Lapwing. It was flying to get away and had to do some very evasive manoeuvres.

And some more photos of the Lapwings –

And to finish an Ibis and the Spoonbill –
