Dalpura Canyon – 18 November 2024

Bob was taking a relative, Luke, visiting from England, out for a canyoning trip – Dalpura Canyon, and asked if I wanted to come along. I did. Bob drove up the mountains and we were soon heading down the creek to the canyon.

The walk to the canyon is short and pleasant.

There is an upper section of canyon –

And we also visited an Aboriginal art cave, that bob and myself had found on our previous visit to the canyon.

One hand stencil is faint, but easy to discern. There are others that are much more difficult to make out, but they are visible with the histogram stretching software.

We then continued downstream to the main section of canyon. This part is particularly beautiful.

We decided to exit on the true left. This is not hard and offers great views, better than the true right exit, but is slightly longer.

Once on top, the view start.

The wildflowers were good.

At one place, we could look down a the top of the Lost Pillar

The Grose Valley

And here we are looking up Birribang Creek

This was a good spot to stop for lunch.

I only spotted one orchid on the walk out.

Flying Duck Orchid – Caleana major

Another very pleasant day out.
