More Birds at Nepean Weir – 26 November 2019

I made a second visit to Nepean Weir to photograph the birdlife. Like the first trip, I was looking for Painted Honeyeaters – but had no luck observing any. It was also a hot day, and I left just after lunch.

White-winged Triller

One of the birds I had seen in abundance on the first trip were Dusky Woodswallows. There were plenty this trip too – including a pair feeding young chicks.

And some of the Honeyeaters –

Lewin’s Honeyeater

New Holland Honeyeater

Some of the other birds –

Superb Fairy-wrens

Brown Quail

This bird was constantly running on the ground in tall grass, making it very hard to photograph.

White-winged Triller

Rufous Whistler?

Grey Fantail

I went to the picnic area for lunch under the shade of one of the covered picnic tables. On the way I spotted a juvenile Sea Eagle.

And a White-faced Heron

It was now quite hot, so I decided to walk to Penrith Station and make my way home.
