Birds and Fungi at Oatley Park – 6 March 2020

I spent an enjoyable day at Oatley Park with Digi Dave visiting the lookouts and the wetlands, mainly looking for birds to photograph.

There were the usual Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Kookaburras and Rainbow Lorikeets around –

As well as some Grey Butcherbirds

And a pair of King Parrots

As well as some of the small birds. Here is a Brown Thornbill

And some Variegated Fairy-wrens

Some fungi was out –

We stopped for lunch at the Children’s Playground, and noticed a fair bit of fungi out in the grass. It is Parasola plicatilis –

And next I had a look in the wood chip areas for Birds Nest Fungi. There was plenty out –

It is all Cyathus stercoreus.

Later, we visited the wetlands in Lime Kiln Bay. As usual there were a lot of Water Dragons basing in the sun.

And a few birds. First a Lewin’s Honeyeater

And an Eastern Spinebill that has caught a Dragonfly.

Then cleaning its beak after eating.
