This was an interesting and pleasant walk from Bardwell Park to Turrella. I was on the lookout for fungi – but I also observed some birds.
Not far down the track, I could hear some birds calling. They sounded like raptors and the alarm calls of other birds. I was at the Illoura clearing. So waited to see if anything few past. I was rewarded. There were two raptors. They seem to be an adult Brown Goshawk and a juvenile/immature Brown Goshawk. I managed to get a few photos of them as they flew past.
A few Welcome Swallows were also flying around.
I left the clearing, but returned when I heard the raptors again. They made another brief appearance.
I continued down the track. I found some white blobs on a log. I have no idea what they are.
I stopped at the small creek to photograph some coral fungi.
In the second photo you can see some small orange disc fungi. There was also some tuna Delicatula integrella around –
On my previous trip down the valley. I had found an unusual polypore growing at the base of a Pittosporum Tree. I think it is Abortiporus beniensis.
A little further down the track – a Grey Fantail –
Some more tiny blob fungi on logs –
Now something a bit easier- Cyptotrama asprata with some slime mould behind.
I carefully checked one area, and found what looks like a baby Amauroderma rude.
Nearby were some Xylaria hyppoxylon –
I then entered the big open grassy area near Bardwell Park station. I found some of the same slime mould I had seen on my previous trip.
I then continued down towards Turrella. There was not that much fungi out. Here are two puffballs – Scleroderms cepa. One that has not ruptured and one that has.
And a Beaked Earth Star – Geastrum pectinatum –
Some more fungi –
And one of the many Flying Poxes –
I then walked back to Earlwood. At Girrahween Park I found some Hyacinth Orchids –
