Birds at Tempe and Sydney Park – 13 November 2021

It was the second Saturday of the month – the time for the Tempe Birdos to conduct their survey of Tempe Wetlands and Tempe Reserve. This was our first survey for a long time due to the lockdown.

I was in the group that surveyed the wetlands, and t was relatively quiet. Here are some of the birds we saw –

Eurasian Coot

Sacred Kingfisher

Laughing Kookaburras

Pacific Black Ducks

Dusky Moorhen with chick

Willie Wagtail

Superb fairy-wrens

After the survey, the groups met together at Tempe Reserve for morning tea. It was good to be able to chat with the other birdos. I then headed to Sydney Park to see what birds were out. I first visited the nesting pair of tawny Frogmouths. It was good to se they had a chick (see top photo). Here is the second parent (female) –

And some of the other birds at the park –

Australian Reed Warbler

Australian White Ibis

Magpie Lark

Welcome Swallow

Eurasian Coots and their chicks

Australasian Grebe

And one of the  turtles –
