Another Glenbrook Heritage Walk – 21 November 2024

After a most interesting walk, the week before, Bob and myself decided to do second trip in the Glenbrook section of Blue Mountains National Park in order to look for more Aboriginal art sites.

We had to do a fair bit of walking to get to the area we wanted to explore. One the way we encountered some nice orchids. Here is the first –

Horned Orchid – Orthoceras strictum

Mountain Dragon

More orchids.

Large Tongue Orchid – Cryptostylis subulata

Yellow Leek Orchid – Prasophyllum flavum

A small snake –

Fringe Lily

Hyacinth Orchid – Dipodium roseum

Here is the first cave we investigated –

Nearby was this possible well –

We did find some charcoal motifs –

The histogram stretching app on my phone (iDStretch) revealed some ochre art here –

The second cave we checked out ws fairly poor with no clear art. The third one was much better.

Here is a faint ochre motif – of human figure lying sideways –

We also found some tools with worked edges.

Faint charcoal art –

White ochre motif –

Sharpening groove –

Now using iDStretch –

We then found shady place to have lunch, and after that started walking back to Bob’s car.

Trigger Plants

Yellow Leek Orchid – Prasophyllum flavum

Another very interesting walk.
