Mudlarks – Cooks River Bird Survey – 11 June 2024

I joined the Mudlarks for their monthly bird survey along the Cooks River. This month the group were surveying downstream.

Here are some of the birds we saw –

Royal Spoonbill

Hoary-headed Grebe

Australian White Ibis

Australasian Figbird

Masked Lapwings

Dusky Moorhen

Masked Lapwing and Wood Ducks

Little Black Cormorants

Laughing Kookaburras

And one of the members, Chris, showed me this Satin Bowerbird bower –

Grey Butcherbird

Eurasian Coot

And as we were finishing off and walking to where we have morning tea, one of the group heard the call of a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo. We then spotted it perched in a Casuarina.

Then two more appeared.

And, as usual, we finished with morning tea and a chat in Ewen Park.
