Birds at Barton Park – 5 November 2024

I made a morning visit to Barton Park to see what birds were around. It turned out to be pretty quiet. Most of the birds I photographed were in Landing Lights Wetland.

There was about ten Pied Stilts there, and a lot of these were nesting.

My past observations of Pied Stilt nesting at landing Lights Wetland have shown they were not that successful. Mainly due to the water level rising and flooding their nests. But this time the water level seemed to have started out high before they built their nests, which all seemed quite high and dry.

This Pied Stilt was sitting a nest, but voted it for short time to feed.

I could see eggs on the nest –

I hope the nests are successful. As well as flooding, there is the danger of predators.
