Birds at Sydney Park – 27 August 2024

Sue was keen to see the Pacific Baza at Sydney Park again, so I suggested we meet up at the Park and then go for a wander around and see if we could find it.

We met at the chimneys at 10 am and had spotted the Pacific Baza within ten minutes.

We watched the Baza for the next two hours.

Great EgretĀ

I then noticed a Buff-banded Rail just behind the Egret –

It was having a bath.

Then the Great Egret approached the Rail to hunt –

The Rail ducked into the reeds, but soon came out again. It wanted to finish its bath.

The Buff-banded Rail scurried to shelter –

But to soon re-emerged and resumed its bathing.
