Birds at Sydney Park – 4 December 2024

Another quite hot day. I ventured out and spent an hour or so at Sydney Park before it got too warm.

Here are some birds I saw –

Channel-billed Cuckoos

Two Cuckoos flew past as I entered the Park.

Australasian Darter

Tawny Frogmouths

I spotted one sitting on a nest in the same place I had seen one earlier.

In a different spot, I spotted two –

Frog

Little Black Cormorant

Dusky Moorhens

White-faced Heron

And a second look at the nesting Tawny Frogmouth just before I left –

    Hello!

I visit Sydney Park every few days but have never been lucky enough to see a Tawny Frog mouth, where in the park do you see them?

    Thanks so much 🙂

They can be hard to spot. And they tend to move around a fair bit. Best to try and find them when they are nesting – as at least one of them will be in the same place for quite a few weeks. Nesting season is roughly September to March.
