As usual, I took part in the bird survey along the Cooks River with the Mudlarks. It was a very pleasant morning activity. With daylight saving starting the group now meets at 7am on the Lang Street Footbridge. This month, the survey was the downstream “Wave Rock” loop.
Here are some birds we saw –
Welcome Swallow
Willie Wagtails – one on a nest.
Australasian Figbird
Chestnut Teals
Little Pied Cormorant
Little Corella
Long-billed Corella
Grey Butcherbird
Australasian Figbird
Tawny Frogmouths
This one is sitting on a nest.
But we also spotted a dead Tawny Frogmouth chick on the ground below the nest.
We then finished with morning tea and chat in Ewen Park (thanks Jennifer). After the survey, I walked upstream with Valerie up to Canterbury Road. We spotted some more birds –
Tawny Frogmouth on nest
Australasian Figbird on nest
Magpie Lark nest
A parent arrives –
