Birds at Sydney Park – 5 March 2025

I spent an interesting and enjoyable morning at Sydney Park with Sue and Valerie, wandering around looking for birds, with a nice coffee break at the nearby Bearded Barista.

The most interesting birds we saw was one of the first we spotted – a Buff-banded Rail, sitting on top of a grass hummock at the top pond.

There were a few Little Black Cormorants

Grey Butcherbird

Dusky Moorhen

White-faced Heron

Australasian Darter

Dragonfly

And then the Darter took off –

Overall, the number of birds in the Park was relatively low – particularly the Ducks, Coots and Moorhens. And despite a lot of looking we did not spot any Tawny Frogmouths.
