Sue and myself spent another afternoon out on Malabar Headland, as we later met up with Alana. The day turned out a bit like our last visit – with a mixture of whales and Peregrine Falcons.
Here is a New Holland Honeyeater calling out –
We spotted one seal resting on the rocks at the bottom of Dead Mans Gulch –
A bit later a Brown Goshawk flew past at high speed and headed into the rifle range –
We continued on to near Boora Point and then sat down to wait, hopefully for Peregrine Falcons to appear.
The waiting paid off. A Peregrine Falcon flew past and then turned and landed on the cliffs.
It perched on part of the cliffs out of sight.
We resumed our waiting and watching.

This Humpback Whale was very close –

Then a Peregrine Falcon appeared. It flew past at very high speed.
It dived down and circled around –
And it landed in a place we could see.
It had prey and it started calling out. The prey appears to be part of a bird.
Its mate answered the call and flew over to get the food.
It then flew off with it.
The was good to see, and indicates the Peregrine Falcons are nesting.
