I took part in the monthly bird survey along the Cooks River with the Mudlarks. This month, the group surveyed the downstream loop – from the Ewan Park footbridge, through Beaman Park, then across to the Golf Course and back on the northern bank to Ewan Park, to finish with morning tea.

There were a number of highlights on this survey – two being a Brush Bronzewing and a Peregrine Falcon.
From the footbridge at the start, we could see this Little Pied Cormorant –

Little Corella

The Welcome Swallows were catching insects in Beaman Park –

Masked Lapwings

Australian Ravens

Eastern Rosella, one of a pair we observed.

Great Cormorant

White Faced Heron

Magpie Lark

We enjoyed the wattle in bloom at the 18th Tee in the Golf Course.

And nearby, we spotted a Brush Bronzewing –

I think this is the first time I have seen this native species of Pigeon.
More Welcome Swallows –

And further on, we were alerted to the alarm calls of Noisy Miners and observed lot of Corellas and Cockatoos in the air. We looked up and spotted a predator, a Peregrine Falcon –

It appears to be a juvenile.
And one more bird, a Tawny Frogmouth –
