Out and About at Oatley Park – 14 September 2018

I spent an enjoyable day wandering around Oatley Park with Digi Dave. We photographed mainly birds and a few orchids.

We were on the lookout for a Osprey nest, that we heard could be seen from one of the lookouts. We eventually spotted it – it was quite distant.

Near the lookout were quite a few birds. It was good to see a Sacred Kingfisher –

And some Yellow-faced Honeyeaters.

There were quite a few Spotted Pardalotes around.

And several Thornbills –

Brown Thornbill

Striated Thornbill

As well as some of the more common birds –

Laughing Kookaburra

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Little Wattlebird

Rainbow Lorikeets

In the wetlands, a Little Pied Cormorant and a landing teal.

And some Caladenia Orchids –

And some spring fungi –

Polyporus arcularius

as well as the Water Dragons hanging around the creek –

And a harder resident to spot – a Turtle –
