Dargans Creek Canyon – 21 February 2019

It was a wet, misty day up the mountains. I was heading up there with Bob to do a canyon. We had decided on Dargans Creek. It is only a short walk to the canyon and an even shorter walk out of it.

Dargans Creek Canyon is in the Stage 2 Proposal for Gardens of Stone.

At the Clarence Dams, we set off down Dargans Creek. The way down was a bit wet and slippery, and we had to be careful. We soon arrived at the start of the canyon.

I took my time, taking a few photos through the canyon. The canyon is only short, and even though it is quite dark, it is not that cold.

The lighting was quite soft, and with a tripod and long exposures, I could get some reasonable photos.

Bob, had continued on, and I found him standing next to a warming fire at the end of he canyon. It was a good place to have lunch under the overhanging canyon walls. Outside, it was raining lightly.

After a few more photos, we headed out the exit – climbing up a small waterfall in a side gully, then climbing up a tree with spikes. From there it was only 15 minutes back to the car.

It was still quite early, so on the way back down Bells Line of Road, we stopped off and visited Walls Lookout. It was a bit too misty however to appreciate the the very fine views the lookout can offer.
