Fungi at Wolli Creek – 22 February 2020

After the Greenway Bird Survey, in the afternoon, I caught a bus to Earlwood and walked down to Wolli Creek near Bardwell Park Station. I followed the two Valleys Track upstream looking for fungi, and then went downstream along the track, to Turrella.

I was also on the lookout for birds – and heard many, but was not able to get a lot of photos. Some light rain did not help.

On the grass near the start of the track I found this interesting slime mould –

I have seen in in the same grassy area a few years ago.

There were quite a few Boletes out –

I found a strange polypore growing around and between the base of small tree. Here are some photos –

Some parts of it were weeping –

I broke off a bit that was growing around the back of the bush and impossible to photograph in situ. Tis part looked more conventional –

I was also pleased to see some coral fungi starting to appear –

And some more photos of fungi –

And a bird –
