This was my third repeat walk from Waterfall, down the Couranga Track to the Hacking River and around the Forest Track, with a stop at Bola Creek to look for and photograph fungi.
I was hopeful that some fungi would be out after a recent (24 mm) fall of rain. A lot of the fungi that I found was a bit old and dried out, butt here was enough fresh fungi to be found that I would have liked more time in the area.
Like my last trip, a lot of coral fungi was out. Here is a selection –
There were also some nice waxcaps out –
Gliophorus Graminicolor –
Hygrocybe miniata –
Porpolomopsis lewelliniae –
Hygrocybe auratiopallens –
And three unidentified species. This first one I have seen out every trip this season. It seems to start out red and then change to red-yellow then to orange as it develops. I think these are all the same species –
I found these along the Forest Track –
They look like a pale Gliophorus Graminicolor, but could be something different.
This one I spotted on the Couranga Track –
And some more on the Couranga Track. A bit old –
They could be Hygrocybe anomola var anomola.
Now for some of the other fungi –
I have no idea what these one are. Below is a Mucronella pendula. I see them growing on the end of the same log each season.
Below is one of many Cordyceps gunnii that I spotted.
I found several of these, which I think are Gloeocantharellus novae-zelandiae.
Some clubs – Trichoglossum hirsutum –
And the Toothed jelly – Pseudohydnum gelatinosum –
On the way down the Couranga Track, I had spotted a couple of small Entoloma viriscens. I didn’t photograph them, leaving them for the way back. This was a mistake – because they were hard to find again, even though i remembered the general area. But on the other hand, while searching for them I spotted two species of waxcaps nearby.
This is awesome!
