Birds at Barton Park – 10 July 2020

After a nice cafe lunch in Dulwich Hill with Roger and Digi Dave, I joined Digi Dave for a bird photography session at Barton Park.

It was reasonable quiet while we were there, and the light was not the best for photographing birds. It was good to see some Pied Stilts back in the main pond at Landing Lights Wetland –

After inspecting the wetlands, we climbed up to the sporting field area. Here is a New Holland Honeyeater –

In the lantana, there was a flock of Superb Fairy-wrens. One male was doing its best to woo a female.

We then descended to the lower level and walked to Muddy Creek near the cycleway. A Great Egret was perched on a boat –

Some Little Black Cormorants were fishing nearby. Here two have fish –

A Crested Tern flew past, also looking for fish.

The Great Egret decried to leave.

Do did a Pelican.

Some of the little Black Cormorants took off, but landed on a boat.

We then started walking back towards the wetlands. Here is a Silvereye –

It was very quiet still at the landing Lights Wetland. Here are a few last photos of a White-faced Heron hunting for food.
