More Fungi at Chatswood – 15 July 2020

I made another visit to Chatswood to get a progress update on the fungi. I first visited Ferndale Park, then walked to nearby Blue Gum Reserve (Blue Gum Creek), and then later walked down the Lane Cove River to see how the nesting Ospreys were going.

The fungi at both places was quite reasonable. It had been raining during the past week – but it was probably too soon for that rain to have an effect.

Ferndale Park

Waxcaps

There were a lot of green ones out.

Gliophorus graminicolor

Humidicutis sp. (The Ferndale Park Green-pink waxcap)

I think these are all the same species –

This is a nice cluster. You can see of them is turning pink, but is also falling to bits. The other were all in one area on the west side of the main creek.

Very close to these, were a few Gliophorus chromolimoneus

And on a lower level were some nice red waxcaps –

The first one may be Hygrocybe erythrocala

Hygrocybe sp.

Back on the east side of the creek was a nice area with Gliophorus viscidibrunnea –

Of the non-waxcaps, these clubs were interesting. I had seen them earlier in the season, and then they went. But a new batch is out, growing in the same place on a log. They we’re about 40 mm tall. Perhaps Typhula sp.

These were nearby on the same log, but much smaller. Perhaps Multiclavula sp. –

This Pseudohydnum gelatinosum was huge –

And this is the same Ramaria lorithamnus I photographed last visit, and looking much the same.

Blue Gum Reserve

I walked down the track below the scout hall, then left the creek, not too far past the cave,  and explored the creekbed. I had to be careful as it was quite slippery after the recent rain.

Gliophorus graminicolor

Gliophorus viridis

Camarophyllopsis sp.

Hygrocybe reesiae

Hygrocybe rodwayi

Hygrocybe anomola var. anomola

Humidicutis sp.

This was the same cluster that I had photographed on my previous trip. They have largely fallen to bits. I thought they may have been the same as the one I have only previously found at Ferndale Park. I think now they may perhaps be Humidicutis helicoides.

Clavulinopsis depokensis

And along the track down to the river, some nice orchids –

Pterostylis grandifolia

Pterostylis nutans

Acianthis fornicatus
