A Wet Walk in Dharawal National Park – and Beyond – 30 March 2025

Brian Everingham had put a walk on the activities program of the National Parks Association of NSW to Dharawal National Park. The plan was to head into the bush and photograph some wildflowers – particularly Banksias.

But, on the day for the walk, the weather was not the best, but this did not deter the party of Brian, Valerie, Ken, Helen and myself. We fist visited Maddens Falls.

Maddens Creek was flowing nicely –

The track was a little damp in places.

When we arrived at Maddens Falls, we found a very nice flow. Impressive!

We the herded back to the cars, and drove a few kilometres further on and then we set off along a fire road into the national park. We did find some Banksias.

There were also lots of nice Scribbly Gums.

We only walked out about 2.5 kms, then turned back. More rain was coming our way.

After seeing Maddens Falls looking very impressive , we decided to visit some other nearby waterfalls. We first visited Kellys Falls near Helensburgh.

Then next stop was at Bald Hill.

We could see this impressive waterfall at the cliffs above Stanwell Park –

We then continued on past the Otford Pantry, to another lookout. Here is the Sea Bridge –

And we could look down and see the shacks of Bulgo –

Heading home, our last stop was National Falls

Valerie was determined to get her shot –

I think we made the most of what was a rather wet day. Thanks to Brian for leading the walk.
